Campaign Objective

The goal set for an advertising campaign that determines how the platform optimizes delivery.

Definition

Campaign objective is the goal you set when creating an ad campaign. It tells the platform what outcome to optimize for — awareness, traffic, engagement, leads, or sales. Choosing the right objective is critical because it determines which users see your ads.

Common Objectives

  • Awareness: Maximize reach and impressions
  • Traffic: Drive clicks to your website or app
  • Engagement: Get likes, comments, shares, video views
  • Leads: Collect contact information via forms
  • Sales/Conversions: Drive purchases, signups, or other conversion events

Why It Matters

The platform's algorithm shows your ad to different types of users depending on the objective. A "Traffic" campaign targets clickers. A "Conversions" campaign targets buyers. Choosing wrong means reaching the wrong audience.

Examples

  • An e-commerce brand using "Sales" objective with purchase optimization for their core campaigns
  • A new brand using "Awareness" objective for their launch campaign before switching to "Sales"

Common Mistakes

  • Using "Traffic" objective when you want sales — you'll get lots of clicks from people who don't buy
  • Switching objectives mid-campaign, which resets the learning phase
