Filter Ads by Date and Analyze Running Timelines

Filter search results by specific date ranges and view individual ad timelines, including 'first seen', 'last seen', and 'days running' metrics, to help advertisers and media buyers infer ad performance and stability.

See example

What This Feature Does

  • Filters ad search results by predefined date ranges (e.g., last 7, 30, 90 days).
  • Allows filtering of ad search results by a custom start and end date.
  • Displays the 'first seen' date, 'last seen' date, and total 'days running' for each individual ad.
  • Provides timeline data as a proxy for ad performance and longevity.

How It Works

1
In the search filters panel, select a 'days back' option or input a custom date range to constrain results.
2
The ad results grid updates to show only ads that were active within the selected timeframe.
3
Within each ad's detail view, the 'Ad Timeline' section displays the exact 'first seen' and 'last seen' dates.
4
The 'days running' metric is calculated as the total duration between the 'first seen' and 'last seen' dates.

Who This Feature Is For

Best For

  • Identifying long-running, stable ads that may indicate profitability.
  • Discovering new ads and recent campaign experiments from competitors.
  • Analyzing campaign trends over specific periods, such as holidays or sales events.
  • Estimating the performance of ads without access to spend data.

Not Ideal For

  • Determining the exact daily ad spend or impression volume.
  • Viewing real-time, up-to-the-minute ad status.
  • Analyzing ad performance before its 'first seen' date.

Practical Use Cases

A media buyer filters for ads running more than 90 days to find proven 'control' creatives.
A creative strategist searches for ads launched in the last 7 days to identify new marketing angles.
An analyst sets a custom date range around a major holiday to study seasonal advertising patterns.

Limits & Boundaries

  • !Date accuracy depends on the ad network's reporting and AdLibrary's data collection frequency.
  • !'First seen' date reflects when the ad was first detected by the system, not necessarily the exact launch moment.
  • !The maximum lookback period is constrained by the user's subscription plan and historical data availability.
